Motive behind Our Existence

In 2015, the Health Informatics Training in East Africa project (HITRAIN) awarded 6 Ugandans (Joan, Priscillah, Noah, Isaac, Sight, Bonny) scholarships to study Masters in Health Informatics at Moi University in Kenya with the aim of building health informatics capacity in East Africa. On completing their masters later in 2018, they came up with the idea of starting a digital health consultancy in Uganda as a way of applying the skills they had acquired in school while also contributing to the improvement of healthcare in Uganda using digital technologies. The 6 founder members invited three (Haron, Lambert, Aussie) of their colleagues who were taking the same masters at Makerere University to join them hence the birth of PearlHIC.
